PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rob McKenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Schilling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McKenzie comes to the ring accompanied by Flower Of Scotland. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rob McKenzie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ben Schilling!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McKenzie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McKenzie showed some decent athleticism there.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Schilling wants to get back to his feet.
Schilling really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McKenzie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

McKenzie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Schilling with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McKenzie accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McKenzie shoots in looking for a takedown. Schilling tries to sprawl out of it but McKenzie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Schilling manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

McKenzie gets to his feet and stands over Schilling, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Schilling felt that one! McKenzie unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Schilling from any more punishment!

An out of breath Rob McKenzie thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
