Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Braddock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kalem Batten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Batten is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Collie Buddz - Defend Your Own. Kalem Batten has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Braddock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kalem Batten! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batten closes this distance looking for a takedown but Braddock circles away. Batten connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Braddock to the floor! Batten dives in looking for the finish!
Braddock is rocked!
It looks like James Braddock has been cut. Batten decides to return to a standing position. Oh Braddock is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Braddock blocks a head kick by Batten.
Batten throws a sloppy head kick and Braddock moves out of range easily. Braddock misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Braddock is breathing heavily. Batten wants to clinch up but Braddock keeps it at a distance. Batten tries to clinch up but Braddock circles away and keeps his distance. Braddock seems to have got his legs back now. Braddock fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Braddock avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Batten lands a head kick that stumbles Braddock and the fighters go to the mat. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Batten decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Braddock, up you get! Batten throws a sloppy head kick and Braddock moves out of range easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Braddock tries for a takedown but Batten sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Braddock. That's going to take a lot out of him. Batten tries to clinch but Braddock is having none of it. Batten throws a head kick but Braddock moves out of range.
Braddock shoots in and drives through. Batten sprawls well. Batten misses with a takedown and Braddock counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Braddock with a flurry of punches that miss. Braddock trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Batten keeping moving, preventing Braddock from controlling successfully. Braddock wants to pass the guard but Batten is keeping the position. Batten is controlling Braddock's posture.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A head kick by Batten misses and Braddock counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Braddock. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Braddock accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Braddock pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Batten is keeping the position for now. Braddock stops Batten from standing up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Braddock thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Braddock has gone for a leg lock! Batten slips out almost immediately though and dives into Braddock's guard. Batten must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Braddock bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Batten's guard. Batten keeping full guard, as Braddock tries to pass. Braddock trying to control but Batten is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Batten trying to keep a closed guard but Braddock is proving a slippery customer.
Braddock drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Braddock jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Braddock throws a big right hand that misses. Batten is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Batten can't keep his opponent in guard - Braddock advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Braddock uses his free foot to push down on Batten's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Batten. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that James Braddock will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on James Braddock's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Batten throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Batten throws a lazy head kick and Braddock counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Batten is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Braddock is controlling him. Braddock is pushing down on Batten's leg trying to pass to half guard. Batten is fighting to maintain full guard but Braddock has managed to sneak the leg through. Batten blocking the ground and pound attempt from Braddock. Batten is trying to stand up here but Braddock is controlling him well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Braddock stalling. Braddock trying to mount his opponent but Batten defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Batten keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Braddock stops Batten from getting back to his feet.
Batten has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Braddock is working away from the top position though. The fighters are battling for position here. Batten manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Batten really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Braddock. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Braddock preventing the sweep. Batten wants to get back to his feet but Braddock is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Batten looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Batten scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Batten lands a high kick to the side of Braddock's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Batten dives into guard, looking to finish. Braddock controls Batten momentarily but Batten frees himself. Batten trying to control the position from guard on top but Braddock is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Braddock is trying to control the position but Batten postures up. Braddock working a defensive guard but Batten manages to pass into side control anyway.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Batten decides to stand back up. Batten steps back and let's Braddock get back to his feet. Kalem Batten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Batten fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Braddock. Batten throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Braddock's head. Batten shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Braddock as he jumps to the side. Braddock gets the takedown into side control. Batten is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. James Braddock overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Batten is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Braddock wants to control but Batten is keeping him busy. Batten is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Braddock asserts his dominance and retains side control. Batten is trying to get back to half guard. Batten is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Braddock has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Braddock gets the takedown into side control. Batten is trying to escape and get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Batten tries to buck Braddock off but Braddock is having none of it. Batten struggling a bit here. Batten is looking for a sweep. You can see the frustration on Batten's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Batten tries to improve position but can't. Batten is trying to buck Braddock off. Braddock throwing shots but missing, from side control. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Batten with a lazy takedown attempt and Braddock counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Braddock tries to free his leg and advance position but Batten is retaining full guard. Batten pulls Braddock in close to his closed guard and prevents Braddock from doing any damage or advancing position. Braddock is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Braddock passes Batten's left leg - he's now in half guard. Braddock thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Braddock is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Batten keeping control of the position. Braddock drops an elbow to the side of Batten's head. Braddock wants to free his trapped foot but Batten is holding on for dear life with his legs. Braddock is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Batten wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Braddock blocks a head kick by Batten.

Batten manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Batten throws a head kick but Braddock moves out of range.

Batten lands a brutal head kick. Braddock looks out on his feet and Batten throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
