The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kappenaugh shoots in but no luck this time.
Kappenaugh gets a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are battling for position here. Pontov manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Kappenaugh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pontov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kappenaugh trying to control the position from guard on top but Pontov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pontov has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kappenaugh doesn't defend quickly enough and Pontov has managed to lock this one up! Can Kappenaugh escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Pontov on a fantastic submission victory.
