The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kowalski forces Baddings back against the cage and clinches. Kowalski is trying to break free. Kowalski will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Baddings up against the cage. Baddings jumps guard but Kowalski stands there with Baddings around his waist. Baddings gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kowalski has Baddings pushed against the cage. Kowalski gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. Baddings breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Baddings scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Kowalski avoids a punch combination nicely.
Baddings tries to bum rush Kowalski with a series of wild strikes but Kowalski uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Kowalski is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kowalski has managed to clinch.

That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Kowalski looking to pass the guard. Baddings wants to get back to his feet but Kowalski is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Kowalski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Baddings is trying to control the position but Kowalski postures up. Kowalski drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kowalski jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kowalski tries to free his leg and advance position but Baddings is retaining full guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kowalski drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Baddings tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kowalski wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Kowalski is looking to take a break and control but Baddings is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kowalski working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. You can see the frustration on Baddings's face as Kowalski controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baddings tries to escape but Kowalski is in control. Baddings prevents Kowalski from improving position. Kowalski wants to control but Baddings is keeping him busy. Kowalski working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Kowalski goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Baddings has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kowalski but great work by Baddings. Kowalski is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Kowalski is staying active underneath Baddings, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Kowalski tries to get to full guard but Baddings has control of the leg. Kowalski is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kowalski wants to control but Baddings is keeping busy and won't allow it. Baddings wants to stand up but Kowalski has a hold of him and won't allow it. Kowalski wants to get back to full guard. Baddings tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Baddings misses with a few strikes there.
Kowalski drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kowalski tries to move to mount but Baddings blocks the move with his legs. Kowalski tries for a kimura but Baddings is defending well. Baddings is not content to let Kowalski control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Piotr Kowalski dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kowalski tightens his grip and picks Baddings up, before dumping him to the ground. Baddings manages to land in guard. Kowalski pushes down on Baddings's leg and manages to get into half guard. Kowalski is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Baddings is just riding it out for now. Kowalski eventually gives up the hold. Kowalski is thwarting Baddings's attempts to control the position. Kowalski is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Baddings is trying to stand up here but Kowalski is controlling him well. Baddings holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Kowalski uses his free foot to push down on Baddings's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Baddings. Kowalski looking to control but Baddings is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Baddings taking shots to the head. Kowalski tries to control but Baddings wriggling away. Baddings regains half guard. Kowalski is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Baddings doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kowalski. Baddings has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kowalski is working away from the top position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kowalski performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kowalski stops Baddings from getting back to his feet.

It looks like Baddings is going to stand back up.
Kowalski gets full guard. Baddings trying to control but Kowalski is working from the bottom. Baddings has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kowalski to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Baddings is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kowalski pulls down on the head and he's put Baddings to sleep! This one is all over!
