Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Terry Linkman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Leonid Kazimir! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Linkman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Linkman wants it to stay on the feet. Leonid Kazimir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Linkman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Kazimir is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Linkman pulls his head out easily. Kazimir looking for a kimura from the bottom but Linkman passes into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Linkman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Linkman in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Kazimir is trying to get back to half guard. Sloppy strikes there by Linkman. Kazimir manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Ground and pound from Kazimir. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kazimir working the head and body with strikes. Linkman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kazimir on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kazimir thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Linkman's head. Kazimir slips a nice elbow through Linkman's hands, connecting with Linkman's forehead. Kazimir landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kazimir lands a nice short elbow. Kazimir lands strikes from half guard. Kazimir has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kazimir seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Linkman is rocked! Kazimir controlling the position here and throwing strikes from the top. Nice elbow lands there... and another... and another... oh, Linkman is out! Kazimir gets to his feet and admires his work - nice finish!
