The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira fails to land with a series of punches.

Oliveira breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Vari throws a right and a left that Oliveira avoids nicely.
Vari moves forwards but Oliveira connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Vari throws a nice looking combination but Oliveira bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Oliveira takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Vari moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Oliveira throws a right hand that Vari ducks under and follows up with a left that Vari also avoids with ease.
Oliveira looks to land a body kick but Vari moved away.
Vari misses with a series of wild punches.
Edson Oliveira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Oliveira, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Oliveira moves forwards but Vari connects with a nice, crisp jab.

and Vari makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Oliveira gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Oliveira tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Vari is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Oliveira buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Oliveira!! Oliveira is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Vari throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
