Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mitchell Pearsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Spencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spencer has chosen Ride Of The Valkyries - Richard Wagner as his entrance music. Mitchell Pearsen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mitchell Pearsen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark Spencer! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spencer jabs at Pearsen's body. A jab lands there for Pearsen. Pearsen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Pearsen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pearsen cracks Spencer with a right hand to the side of the head. Spencer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Spencer lands with a thumping leg kick.
Spencer fails to land with a series of punches.
Pearsen tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Spencer counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Spencer not landing any meaningful shots this time. Spencer winds up and cracks Pearsen with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Spencer missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Spencer is looking for a kimura but Pearsen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Spencer to get the leverage. Pearsen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Spencer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pearsen's head. Pearsen wants to get back to full guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Spencer in particular looking to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spencer passes to side control. Pearsen is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Pearsen manages to work his way to half guard, despite Spencer's best efforts. Spencer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pearsen tries to get to full guard but Spencer has control of the leg. Spencer trying to mount his opponent but Pearsen defends it. Spencer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Spencer looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Pearsen looks like he's trying to stand up.
Pearsen tries to roll over but Spencer keeps him under control. Pearsen moves into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pearsen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Spencer is one step ahead there. Pearsen is trying to keep Spencer in close.
Spencer looking to pass the guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Spencer controls from within his opponent's guard. Spencer is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spencer advances position into side control! Spencer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Spencer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Spencer working the head and body with strikes. Spencer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pearsen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pearsen is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Spencer off and has taken his back! Pearsen keeps control of the position as Spencer tries to break free.
A lull in the action here.
Spencer is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pearsen patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Pearsen working for a choke but Spencer is defending well. You can see the frustration on Spencer's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Spencer manages to reverse the position and now he's in Pearsen's guard. Nice work there by Spencer.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spencer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Spencer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pearsen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Spencer has Pearsen in his guard. Spencer working for a triangle but Pearsen defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Spencer dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Spencer stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Spencer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Pearsen works his way to full guard. Good work. Spencer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pearsen is keeping the position for now. Mark Spencer has got the better of the ground game so far. Spencer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pearsen's head. Pearsen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Spencer manages to get himself to full guard.
Pearsen wants to control from the top but Spencer keeps moving. Spencer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Pearsen trying to control the position from guard on top but Spencer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spencer is trying to keep Pearsen in close.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Spencer is on top in guard.
Spencer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pearsen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Spencer working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pearsen's head. Spencer is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Spencer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Spencer stops Pearsen from standing up. Spencer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Pearsen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spencer works over Pearsen with some ground and pound from guard. Spencer throws a big elbow that misses. Pearsen wants to stand and escape but Spencer is having none of it. Pearsen keeping moving, preventing Spencer from controlling successfully. Pearsen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Spencer. Spencer cracks Pearsen with a solid left hand. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Spencer looking to pass the guard. Pearsen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spencer working to try and regain half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pearsen scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Spencer?
Spencer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Spencer is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Pearsen is staying active. Pearsen tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. Pearsen trying to control but he's not successful this time. Spencer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Spencer manages to regain half guard. Good work. Pearsen is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Spencer!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spencer is trying desperately to improve position. Pearsen get's back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spencer connects with a right hand. Pearsen shakes it off. This has been an exciting period of action! Spencer needs to keep his hands up - Pearsen had a free shot at his head there. Pearsen throws a hook to the side of Spencer's head but Spencer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Spencer takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Mark Spencer will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Spencer throws a hook to the side of Pearsen's head but Pearsen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Pearsen throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Spencer dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Spencer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pearsen as he avoids it easily. Pearsen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pearsen defending well as Spencer loads up on a big left hand. Spencer lunges at Pearsen with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Pearsen's hand. Pearsen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Spencer. Pearsen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Spencer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pearsen avoids it really well and circles away. Pearsen fails in his attempt to clinch. Spencer takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Pearsen takes a shot right to the bread basket. Pearsen lands with a hook. Spencer tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Pearsen tries to clinch but Spencer is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pearsen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Spencer swats him away and circles back towards the center. Pearsen tries to clinch but Spencer is having none of it. Spencer slips under a jab from Pearsen. Pearsen tries to clinch up but Spencer circles away and keeps his distance. Spencer moves out of range of the strikes. Pearsen tries to clinch there but Spencer circles away.
Spencer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pearsen sprawls well. Pearsen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Spencer gets slowly back to his feet. Mitchell Pearsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Spencer. Pearsen defending well as Spencer loads up on a big left hand. Spencer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Pearsen misses with an uppercut
and Spencer cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Spencer loads up on a big right hand but Pearsen slips the punch. Pearsen clinches up against the cage. A short body shot lands from Pearsen as the two fighters clinch.
Pearsen lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Spencer is working for takedown but Pearsen is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spencer gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Pearsen regains guard.
Spencer slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. This has been an exciting period of action! Pearsen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Spencer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Pearsen tries to kick Spencer off in order to stand up. Spencer Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Spencer landing a few strikes. Spencer landing a few strikes. Spencer scores with punches from side control. Pearsen is looking for a sweep. Spencer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pearsen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Spencer wants to control but Pearsen is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spencer is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Spencer scores with punches from side control. Pearsen taking a bit of punishment here - Spencer scoring with strikes. Pearsen is not content to let Spencer control the position. Pearsen wants to get back to his feet but Spencer drags him back down. A control attempt from Pearsen but he's now mounted! Spencer lands a heavy elbow. Spencer raining down shots from the mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. BOOM! Spencer connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Spencer goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pearsen turns into him and now he's in Spencer's guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spencer working for a triangle but Pearsen defends it easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Spencer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Spencer winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
