PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Hecker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Slone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Hecker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chad Slone!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slone catches Hecker with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Slone looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Hecker closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hecker lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hecker lands a couple of digs.
Slone looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hecker postures up and lands a big shot to Slone's brow.
Hecker controlling from the top position.
Hecker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hecker wants to control from the top but Slone keeps moving.
Hecker with a flurry of punches that miss.
Slone working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hecker.
Hecker passes Slone's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hecker is keen to just control but Slone is a slippery customer.
Hecker slips a nice elbow through Slone's hands, connecting with Slone's forehead.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Slone is defending against the submission attempts here by Hecker.
Hecker is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Hecker is trying to control the action in half guard but Slone is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Hecker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hecker winds up and cracks Slone with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hecker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Slone keeps working.
Hecker sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Slone defending well though.
Hecker is looking to take a break and control but Slone is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Slone controlling the position well.
Slone on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Slone is trying to maintain the position but Hecker is very close to passing his half guard.

Hecker is working for a submission of some sort.
Slone tries to roll over but Hecker keeps him under control.
Slone blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hecker.
Hecker content to control rather than advance.
Hecker working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hecker perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hecker seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Slone for as long as he can get away with.

Hecker seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Slone does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jeff Hecker has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hecker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Hecker wants to control from the top but Slone keeps moving.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeff Hecker dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hecker shoots for a double leg takedown but Slone sprawls well. He's pushed Hecker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Slone.
Slone misses with a straight left.
Hecker shoots in and drives through. Slone sprawls well.

Slone gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hecker to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Slone is breathing heavily.

Hecker is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Hecker shoots in and bounces Slone off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Hecker is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Hecker really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Slone seems a little lost for a moment, as Hecker dominates the positioning.
Slone is trying to improve his position.

Hecker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hecker passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Slone!
Hecker lands a couple of good shots and Slone has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

A bit of a pause in the action here. Hecker controlling the positon.
Hecker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Slone can do to turn this around?
Hecker gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
You can see the frustration on Slone's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Hecker is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Slone. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Hecker keeps control of the position easily here as Slone tries to buck him off.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hecker cracks Slone with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Slone from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Hecker is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Hecker gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Hecker gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Hecker apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Hecker changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Slone looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

You can see the frustration on Slone's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Hecker shoots in but no luck this time.
Hecker shoots in for a takedown but Slone shows good takedown defense.

Hecker closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Slone's guard.
Slone can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hecker controls the pace.
Slone pulls Hecker in close to his closed guard and prevents Hecker from doing any damage or advancing position.
Hecker is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hecker passes into half guard.
Hecker is nestled in close to Slone, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hecker fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Hecker working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Slone turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Hecker off and cradles Slone's limp body as Hecker celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Jeff Hecker!
An out of breath Jeff Hecker thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
