Gryphen comes to the cage accompanied by Tubthumping. The crowd seem to be enjoying Jong Dong's choice of entrance music: Aegukka. Kim Jong Dong has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Forrest Gryphen's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kim Jong Dong!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jong Dong closes the distance but Gryphen moves to the side
and Gryphen counters with a nice leg kick.
Gryphen buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Jong Dong tries to close the distance and clinch but Gryphen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Jong Dong clinches up against the cage.
Gryphen misses with a knee strike.
Jong Dong changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gryphen fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gryphen connects with a leg kick. Jong Dong looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Jong Dong is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jong Dong tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gryphen swivels and escapes.
Gryphen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Forrest Gryphen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kim Jong Dong.

Jong Dong scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gryphen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Jong Dong working the ground and pound but Gryphen is defending the strikes.
Jong Dong advances nicely into full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gryphen is trying to escape the mount.
Jong Dong lands a big elbow.
Jong Dong lands a big shot there that rocks Gryphen but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The referee warns Gryphen that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gryphen manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Gryphen is looking to improve his position.
Jong Dong is just content to waste time from the top position. Gryphen takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jong Dong accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jong Dong working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Gryphen is looking for a triangle but Jong Dong pushes his legs off easily.

Gryphen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jong Dong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gryphen is tightening it up a little... Jong Dong has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jong Dong reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jong Dong taps out! Nice BJJ there by Gryphen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Forrest Gryphen!
