And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Carlsson!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns throws a body punch but Carlsson moves out of range.

Burns changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carlsson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ground and pound from Burns seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Carlsson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Carlsson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Carlsson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Burns is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Burns knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carlsson on the ground.

Carlsson looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Carlsson is defending against the submission attempts here by Burns.
Burns prevents Carlsson from improving his position.

Burns is taking a breather. Carlsson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Burns looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Burns is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Burns is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Carlsson reverses the position - he's now on top in Burns's guard.

Burns working for a triangle but Carlsson defends it easily.

Burns is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carlsson defends well.

Carlsson wants to control from the top but Burns keeps moving.

Burns is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carlsson is aware though and is defending well.

Burns is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burns might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Carlsson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Burns is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Carlsson yanks on the arm and Burns is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Carlsson.
