Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spud Spud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James comes into the arena with Magic In Me - B.O.B blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Spud's choice of entrance music: Lobby. Jesse James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Spud Spud!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spud decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
James tries to get to full guard but Spud has control of the leg.

Spud wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jesse James.

Spud seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but James does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
James is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
James tries to clinch up but Spud circles away and keeps his distance.

Spud looking to stall.

James has Spud pressed against the cage, preventing Spud from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
A right hook to the body lands for James.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Still in the clinch, James scores with a nice short uppercut.
Spud trying to stall but James improves his position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Spud throws a punch but it's blocked by James.
Spud is trying to work for a single leg takedown but James pulls him back up using the underhooks.
James lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Spud wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but James has him pressed against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse James dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Spud Spud's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Spud paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A combination from James does no damage.
James misses with a double jab.
James tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as James checks a leg kick.
Jesse James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James throws a right and a left that Spud avoids nicely.
Spud scores with a body shot.
Spud sizes up James with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Good exchange - Spud coming out on top.
James tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Spud looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Spud trying to control the action but James is working from the bottom.

Spud wants to free his trapped foot but James is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Spud seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Spud Spud hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
James blocks a jab.

Spud tests James's chin there with a solid looking shot.
James blocks the body kick.
James throws a series of punches but Spud avoids them all with ease.
James misses with a series of wild punches.
Spud lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Jesse James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Spud cracks James with a right hand to the side of the head.
James takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
James tries to clinch but Spud moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
James moves in looking to clinch but Spud pushes him off.
Spud Spud seems to be getting the better of the standup.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up but Spud swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Spud wants to take the fight to the mat but James manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

James throws a punch but it's blocked by Spud.
A head punch on the inside from James fails to land.
James swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Spud tries to land knees in the clinch but James avoids the damage to the body.

James lands a shot to the body.

A short right hand to the side of the head by James.
Spud works on James's body with a couple of short punches.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Spud is trying to drag James to the mat but James just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
James makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James scores with a shoulder strike.
Spud wants to stall.
James lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spud Spud showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


James avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A big right followed by a crushing left from James knocks Spud out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
