The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VanDamme throws a low kick but Opperman moves out of range easily.
VanDamme closes the distance and clinches up with Opperman, looking for a takedown. VanDamme pushes Opperman against the cage but Opperman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Opperman counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Opperman wants to control but VanDamme is keeping him busy.
VanDamme has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Opperman is working away from the top position though.
VanDamme is refusing to be controlled, as Opperman sits in half guard.
Opperman scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Opperman tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Opperman is looking to stall here but VanDamme recovers full guard.
Opperman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Opperman postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! VanDamme covers up, he's hurt! Opperman keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Opperman and the ref steps in to end the fight! Opperman can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
