Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lome Tafa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Akins!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tafa tries to avoid it but Akins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tafa to the ground. Tafa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Tafa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Akins throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Tafa's head.
Tafa cracks Akins with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Tafa has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Akins to stand back up!
Akins is rocked!
It looks like Michael Akins has been cut.
Lome Tafa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
No luck for Akins with that takedown attempt.
Tafa swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Akins fails with a takedown attempt.
Lome Tafa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Akins.
Tafa is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Akins hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
