PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drake Ka Uhane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alois Wutawanashe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Drake Ka Uhane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alois Wutawanashe!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wutawanashe fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ka Uhane lands with an overhand left.
Some wild striking there from Ka Uhane.
Ka Uhane misses with a body punch

and Wutawanashe counters by clinching up.
Ka Uhane is pressed up against the cage. Wutawanashe has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ka Uhane down to the mat. Ka Uhane avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Wutawanashe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ka Uhane but Ka Uhane pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Drake Ka Uhane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alois Wutawanashe.
Ka Uhane misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ka Uhane misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ka Uhane keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Wutawanashe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ka Uhane was covering up waiting for the punch and Wutawanashe finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ka Uhane is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wutawanashe is controlling him.

Wutawanashe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Ka Uhane wants to get back to his feet but Wutawanashe is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Wutawanashe throws a strike but Ka Uhane avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Wutawanashe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ka Uhane has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Wutawanashe off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Wutawanashe closes the distance and clinches up with Ka Uhane, looking for a takedown. Wutawanashe pushes Ka Uhane against the cage but Ka Uhane circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Drake Ka Uhane is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Ka Uhane counters with a left to the body.
Wutawanashe looks for a takedown but Ka Uhane sprawls well.

Ka Uhane throws a right hand that Wutawanashe ducks under and follows up with a left that Wutawanashe also avoids with ease.
Ka Uhane stuffs the takedown attempt from Wutawanashe. Wutawanashe gets slowly back to his feet.
Ka Uhane scores with a decent looking hook.
Ka Uhane looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Wutawanashe looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ka Uhane pushes Wutawanashe off looking to stand but Wutawanashe dives back in and keeps control.

Wutawanashe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ka Uhane with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Wutawanashe is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ka Uhane defends it well.
Ka Uhane wants to get back to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ka Uhane throws a jab when Wutawanashe was well out of range.
Ka Uhane throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Drake Ka Uhane is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ka Uhane throws a series of punches but Wutawanashe moves out of range.
Ka Uhane swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wutawanashe fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ka Uhane falls off balance throwing a combination

and Wutawanashe counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Wutawanashe.
Ka Uhane wants to break the clinch but can't.

Wutawanashe has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ka Uhane uses from the top position.
Ka Uhane has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wutawanashe is proving hard to escape from.

Wutawanashe is pulling down on Ka Uhane's head. It's preventing any offense from Ka Uhane, at least for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ka Uhane stands up from Wutawanashe's guard - Ka Uhane perhaps looking for a knockout.

Wutawanashe tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ka Uhane swivels and escapes.

Wutawanashe shoots for a double leg takedown but Ka Uhane sprawls well. He's pushed Wutawanashe's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Drake Ka Uhane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alois Wutawanashe.
Ka Uhane fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ka Uhane looks to score with a jab to the body but Wutawanashe is just out of range.

Wutawanashe goes for a takedown attempt but Ka Uhane pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A decent looking cross lands there for Ka Uhane.


It looks like Alois Wutawanashe has been cut.

and Ka Uhane counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Wutawanashe thinking.
Wutawanashe is breathing heavily.
Ka Uhane throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wutawanashe.
Ka Uhane fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ka Uhane grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Wutawanashe takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Ka Uhane cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Drake Ka Uhane!
