The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ablett shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Ablett finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Jones tries to get to full guard but Ablett has control of the leg. Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Jones pushes Ablett off looking to stand but Ablett dives back in and keeps control.
Jones is trying is best to control the position here.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Michael Jones. Ablett closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Jones has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ablett regains guard immediately. Jones is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Jones makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Jones controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Jones advances position into side control! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A lull in the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Ablett looks calm but he's in trouble here. Jones gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Ablett is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Jones lets go of the hold and Ablett can pop his arm back in it's socket.
