Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Wilson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Witten!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Reed Andrews and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wilson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Witten napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Wilson wants to control but Witten is keeping him busy.
Witten defending against the ground and pound.
Wilson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Witten on the ground.
Witten tries to buck Wilson off but Wilson is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on Witten's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Witten tries to improve position but can't.

Wilson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Witten fails in his attempt to clinch.

Wilson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wilson is pressing down on Witten's thigh, looking to free his foot. Witten is holding on for now.
Witten has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wilson is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Witten is looking for a sweep. Wilson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Witten is looking to control Wilson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Witten avoid being mounted?
Witten throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Wilson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Witten is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Witten has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wilson is working away from the top position though.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Witten makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Witten.
Wilson trying to control the position from guard on top but Witten is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Witten tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Wilson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Wilson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Witten wants a takedown.

Wilson has Witten pressed up against the ropes. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Wilson pulls back from the ropes and twists to the side, sending Witten tumbling to the mat - Wilson dives into Witten's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Witten keeping moving, preventing Wilson from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Witten is looking to sinch up a triangle. Wilson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Witten's body to avoid the submission. Witten has instead reached around Wilson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Witten arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Mark Witten! Mark Witten retains his heavyweight title!
