PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eyeball Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robbie Balboa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul's entrance music is momma said knock u out. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Balboa misses.
Balboa bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Paul's head backwards.
Balboa lands a jab to Paul's midsection.
Balboa lands a nice shot that snaps Paul's head back.
Paul takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Paul shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Balboa as he avoids it easily.
Balboa fails to land with a series of punches.
Paul slips a jab and a cross from Balboa.

Paul has Balboa up against the cage in a clinch.

Balboa tries to free his leg and advance position but Paul is retaining full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Paul closes the distance and clinches up with Balboa, looking for a takedown. Paul pushes Balboa against the cage but Balboa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Balboa stuffs the takedown attempt from Paul. Paul gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eyeball Paul. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Paul counters with a single leg into guard. Balboa didn't expect that.

Paul stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Balboa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Paul wants to control from the top but Balboa keeps moving.
Paul is standing up over Balboa. Balboa looks to escape but Paul dives into side control.
Balboa sneaks back into half guard.
Balboa trying to get back to full guard but Paul takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Balboa wants to get back to his feet.
Balboa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Paul looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Balboa is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Paul blocks Balboa's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Paul wants to finish this one by submission but Balboa is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Paul.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robbie Balboa dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Paul will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Balboa throws a series of strikes that have Paul backpedaling.

Balboa is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Paul.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Paul has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Balboa!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Paul postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Balboa looks a forlorn figure.

A close second round but Robbie Balboa will probably get the nod - 10:9.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Paul is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Balboa can't fight it off and eventually Paul manages to take the fight to the floor. Balboa looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
