Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maksim Veremko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matti Meikalainen!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meikalainen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Veremko was well out of range. Poor timing from Meikalainen.
Meikalainen with a nice cross.
Veremko wants to clinch up but Meikalainen keeps it at a distance.
Meikalainen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Meikalainen throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Veremko sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Veremko decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Meikalainen is refusing to be controlled, as Veremko sits in half guard.

Veremko is looking for a kimura here.
Meikalainen holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Veremko is looking to advance position but Meikalainen won't allow it.

Veremko is working for a submission of some sort.
Veremko wants to pass the guard but Meikalainen is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Veremko is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Meikalainen manages to get to full guard.
Veremko throws a big elbow that misses.
Meikalainen is pulling down on Veremko's head to control his posture.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Meikalainen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Veremko is controlling him.
Veremko wants to pass the guard but Meikalainen is keeping the position.
Veremko missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Matti Meikalainen was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Meikalainen swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Veremko feints and as Meikalainen raises his hands in defense, Veremko changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Veremko wants to pass the guard but Meikalainen is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Veremko throws a big elbow that misses.
Veremko stopping the sweep attempt from Meikalainen.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Meikalainen keeping full guard, as Veremko tries to pass.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Meikalainen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Veremko.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Maksim Veremko will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Meikalainen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Meikalainen lands a jab.
The fighters circling - Meikalainen throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Good leg kick by Meikalainen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Meikalainen lands a leg kick that knocks Veremko off balance momentarily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Veremko shoots in looking for a takedown. Meikalainen tries to sprawl out of it but Veremko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Meikalainen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A punch lands to the side of Veremko 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Veremko looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Meikalainen drops Veremko with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Veremko looks back up at him and smiles so Meikalainen waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Veremko is rocked!


It looks like Maksim Veremko has been cut.
Meikalainen fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Oh Veremko is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Meikalainen lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Matti Meikalainen!
