Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bradley Staffey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by 2nd Sucks- ADTR. Staffey has chosen Omerta as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jay Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bradley Staffey!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Staffey throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Jones tries to land a body kick
and Staffey counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Jones avoids the head kick by Staffey.

Jones drives through with a takedown into Staffey's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Staffey is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.
Jones is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones advances to full mount.
Staffey tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jones punishing his opponent with strikes.
Jones is looking to stand but Jones has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Staffey is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
A nice elbow there by Jones.
Staffey can't escape the position.
Jones breaks from Staffey's wrist control and lands an elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones avoids the attempt from Staffey to control.
Jones cracks Staffey with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jones postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Staffey looks a forlorn figure.

Staffey regains half guard.
Jones keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Staffey wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.
Staffey keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Staffey wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Staffey is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.
Staffey wants to control but Jones passes into side.
Staffey looks winded!

Staffey throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Jones working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The referee asks Jones politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jones prefers to stall for the moment though.
Staffey stops Jones from passing to mount.
Staffey is trying to control Jones's posture but Jones avoids it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jones happy to just control the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Jones dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Staffey throws a low kick but it's checked well by Jones.
Bradley Staffey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Staffey clinches with his opponent.
Staffey gets underhooks to prevent Jones's takedown attempt.
Staffey wants a takedown but no success here.

Staffey jumps guard and drags Jones to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Staffey's guard.
Staffey wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.

Jones is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Staffey tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Staffey defends it well.
Jones is nestled in close to Staffey, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Staffey tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.
Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Staffey knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Staffey is looking for a sweep. Jones is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Staffey trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
Jones performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Jones staying calm.
Staffey is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jay Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Staffey prevents Jones from improving position.

Staffey reaches up around Jones's neck trying to control. But Jones takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Staffey! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Staffey is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Jones celebrates the victory with the fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jay Jones!
After winning the bout, Jay Jones thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
