Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Chance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as John Chance enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Patterson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Chance! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chance circles away from the clinch attempt and Chance counters with a nice double leg into guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Patterson working a defensive guard here.
Chance trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Chance should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Chance won't allow Patterson to sweep him here. Chance must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Chance looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Patterson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Paul Patterson just wasn't active enough. Chance closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Chance looks winded! Patterson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Patterson moves into full guard.
Chance really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Patterson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Patterson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Patterson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patterson wants to pass the guard but Chance is defending well. Patterson is working for a submission of some sort.
Chance avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Patterson. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Patterson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chance is staying active underneath Patterson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Patterson works his way into full mount! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Patterson avoids the attempt from Chance to control. Patterson wants to control the pace but Chance is squirming around nicely. Patterson is trying to take his opponent's back.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Patterson wants to get back to his feet but Chance is holding on tight.
Patterson looking to control but Chance is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Chance working to try and regain half guard.
Patterson thowing shots but they're missing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Patterson tries to control but Chance wriggling away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patterson shoots in for a takedown but Chance shows good takedown defense. No luck with that takedown attempt from Patterson. Patterson tries to clinch there but Chance circles away.
Chance stuffs the takedown attempt from Patterson. Patterson gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Patterson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Patterson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Patterson throws a sloppy head kick and Chance moves out of range easily. Patterson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Chance counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Chance is breathing heavily. Chance looking to pass the guard. Patterson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patterson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Patterson tries to control but Chance wriggling away. Patterson unloads with some shots from mount but Chance bucks and avoids them well.
Patterson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Chance is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patterson misses with a head shot. Patterson controlling the position easily from mount. Patterson looking to control but Chance is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Paul Patterson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Patterson throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Chance has his hands clasped together but Patterson breaks the hold and Chance is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Patterson!
