The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choi throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Choi throws a sloppy head kick and Kovacks moves out of range easily.
Choi darts in and clinches Kovacks up against the cage.
Kovacks trying to control the position but instead, Choi has worked for underhooks and has pushed Kovacks into the cage.
Choi pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Kovacks is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Choi lands a right hand.
A head punch on the inside from Choi fails to land.
Kovacks misses with the head strike.
Choi lands a body punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nice elbow from Choi.
Choi lands a nice shot to the body.
Kovacks looks winded!
Choi lands with a light punch inside.
Choi lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Kovacks looking to slow down the pace here.
Choi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kovacks avoids the head kick by Choi.
Choi throws a nice outside leg kick.
K.J. Choi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kovacks moves out of range as Choi throws a body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Choi lands a leg kick that knocks Kovacks off balance momentarily.
Choi throws a leg kick which misses Kovacks's front leg but catches the back leg as Kovacks tries to avoid it.
Choi drops Kovacks with a beautiful combination! Kovacks stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Choi is looking for the KO!
Kovacks is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Choi ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Kovacks is still on wobbly legs! Can Choi finish him?
Choi lands a nice shot to the body.
Kovacks ducks into an uppercut from Choi and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!
