Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Seth Cohen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazushi Sakuraba!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakuraba uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cohen.
Jab from Cohen.
Cohen throws a poor cross that misses
and Sakuraba counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sakuraba misses with a two punch combination.
Cohen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Sakuraba misses with a looping left.
Cohen looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Sakuraba throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Sakuraba tries a head kick but it misses.
Sakuraba throws a right and a left that both miss.
Cohen takes a swing at Sakuraba's ribcage but misses.
Sakuraba on the wrong end of a nice hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sakuraba steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cohen.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sakuraba shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Sakuraba wants to control but Cohen is keeping him busy.
Cohen is trying to maintain the position but Sakuraba is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sakuraba is trying to control. Cohen wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Cohen is looking to control Sakuraba's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cohen avoid being mounted?
Sakuraba works his foot free and advances to mount.
Sakuraba looking to control but Cohen is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Cohen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sakuraba on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sakuraba lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sakuraba is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cohen has managed to escape the submission attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sakuraba with shots to the head and body - Cohen looks very uncomfortable down there.
Cohen is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Sakuraba thowing shots but they're missing.

Sakuraba with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Sakuraba working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Sakuraba goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Cohen is on top in guard.

Sakuraba looking for a sweep. Not yet Sakuraba, not yet.

Sakuraba working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cohen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cohen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sakuraba is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Cohen frees his head nicely. Oh but Sakuraba has switched to an armbar! Cohen is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Kazushi Sakuraba!
