PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alivem Kroster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Troy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alivem Kroster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, John Troy!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kroster throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kroster looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Troy enables Kroster to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Troy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kroster could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Troy pulls Kroster in to control the position.
Troy keeping moving, preventing Kroster from controlling successfully.
Troy wants to sweep but no luck.

Troy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kroster controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Alivem Kroster wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Kroster shoots for a takedown but Troy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Kroster clinches up against the cage.
Kroster wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Troy stalls.
Kroster stops a takedown attempt from Troy.

Troy gets control of Kroster's arms and successfully pulls guard. Troy will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Kroster postures up.
Kroster's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Kroster postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Troy working a defensive guard here.
Kroster lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Kroster would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kroster stands and throws Troy's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Troy struggling a bit here.
Kroster tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Kroster is working Troy over with some ground and pound from side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kroster trying to control the action but Troy is working from the bottom.

Kroster decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Troy avoids the head kick by Kroster.
No luck for Kroster with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alivem Kroster. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kroster has managed to clinch.
Kroster misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Kroster's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Troy has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kroster after a bit of a struggle.
Kroster drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Troy gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kroster is trying to pull guard but Troy turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Kroster stops a takedown attempt from Troy.
Troy drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Troy wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kroster has him pressed against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Troy works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alivem Kroster dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Kroster is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Troy's half guard.
Troy wants to improve his position but Kroster is controlling well.
Kroster lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Kroster passes to full mount!
Kroster has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Troy's face.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kroster is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Troy is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

Kroster sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Troy slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Kroster sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Troy is refusing to be controlled, as Kroster sits in half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Kroster throwing shots but Troy is blocking nicely.
Kroster has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kroster is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Kroster postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Troy to stand up.

Troy gets tackled into the cage by Kroster. Kroster maintains the clinch.
Kroster is trying to break the clinch but Troy is controlling him.

Troy manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Kroster seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kroster wants to control from the top but Troy keeps moving.
Kroster pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Troy is keeping the position for now.
Troy trying to keep a closed guard but Kroster is proving a slippery customer.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Alivem Kroster wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Kroster closes the distance and clinches up with Troy, looking for a takedown. Kroster pushes Troy against the cage but Troy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Troy gets control of Kroster's arms and successfully pulls guard. Troy will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Troy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kroster's guard.

Kroster looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Troy is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kroster is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kroster has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kroster trying to control the position from guard on top but Troy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alivem Kroster dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Troy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Alivem Kroster is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kroster closes this distance looking for a takedown but Troy circles away.
Kroster tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kroster changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Troy tries to avoid it but Kroster manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Troy to the ground. Troy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kroster has Troy up against the cage in a clinch.

Kroster pulls guard successfully.
Alivem Kroster overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kroster looking to hit a scissor sweep but Troy is one step ahead there.

Kroster avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kroster is looking to sweep but instead, Troy has passed into half guard.
Kroster is pressing down on Troy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Kroster is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Troy defends well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Troy tries to free his leg and advance position but Kroster is retaining full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Troy engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Troy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kroster is keeping the position for now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Troy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kroster looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Troy passes into side control.
Kroster gets back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Troy wants to take a breather but Kroster is having none of it.
Troy seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Kroster is trying to get back to full guard.
Kroster wants to control but Troy is keeping busy.

Troy seems to be working for a kimura but Kroster defends the submission attempt.

Kroster avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Troy.
Kroster looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kroster tries to get to full guard but Troy has control of the leg.
Troy lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Kroster trying to hold on to Troy's head to control him but Troy postures up.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alivem Kroster.
Well Kroster has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
