These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tajiri manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gonzales on his heels. He'll look to pass Gonzales 's guard now, I'm sure.
Gonzales looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Tajiri passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Tajiri wants to control but Gonzales is keeping him busy.

Tajiri stands up.

Tajiri gets a takedown into half guard.
Gonzales throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Tajiri manages to pass to side control.

Tajiri lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Tajiri has hold of Gonzales 's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gonzales tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Tajiri cranks the arm and Gonzales screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gonzales , who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
