Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eritine Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bad Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eritine Grant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bad Dog! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dog changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Grant looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Grant tries to buck Dog off but Dog is having none of it. Dog working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Grant wants to control but Dog postures up. Grant throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Grant is looking to regain half guard here but Dog keeps moving and retains side control. Grant is working hard here to advance position. Dog throws an elbow but Grant slips to the side and avoids it well. Grant could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Dog tries to get to his feet but Grant is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Dog in his guard. Dog stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Grant swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dog controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Grant is trying to keep Dog in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Dog is looking to work some ground and pound but Grant has wrist control. Grant keeping moving, preventing Dog from controlling successfully. Dog with a flurry of punches that miss. Dog thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Grant working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dog. Grant has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Dog trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Grant manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Grant trying to control the position from guard on top but Dog is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Grant accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Dog keeping moving, preventing Grant from controlling successfully. Dog is trying to keep Grant in close.
Dog is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Grant will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Grant passes Dog's left leg - he's now in half guard. Grant is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dog is just riding it out for now. Grant eventually gives up the hold. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Grant in particular looking to stall. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dog has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Grant is working away from the top position though. Dog moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bad Dog dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Grant closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Dog is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Grant's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Dog tries to get to full guard but Grant has control of the leg. Grant tries to pass to full mount but Dog defends it. Dog is staying active underneath Grant, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Grant prevents Dog from improving his position. Bad Dog has got the better of the ground game so far. Grant trying to control the action but Dog is working from the bottom. Dog is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Grant prevents Dog from improving his position. Grant is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Grant is trying to control. Dog wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Dog is defending against the submission attempts here by Grant.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dog stops Grant from passing to mount. Grant moves into full mount! Dog is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Grant prevents Dog from getting the reversal. Dog wants to hold on but Grant pushes him away. Grant throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Dog regains half guard. Dog is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Grant is trying to control. Dog wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grant works his way into side control. Dog manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Dog is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Grant wants to pass the guard but Dog is defending well. This has been an exciting period of action! Grant throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dog tries to roll over but Grant keeps him under control. Grant throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Dog is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Dog takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grant tries to free his leg and advance position but Dog is retaining full guard. Grant throws a big elbow that misses. Dog throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Dog is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Grant's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Grant's back! Grant defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Dog's arms. Grant is really stuck here.
Dog throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dog misses with an elbow to the head. Dog working for a choke but Grant reverses nicely into Dog 's guard. Grant works a leg free and moves into half guard. Grant is looking to take a break and control but Dog is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Grant tries to pass to full mount but Dog defends it. Dog desperately trying to maintain half guard. Grant is trying to control. Dog wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Grant engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Dog looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Eritine Grant. Well Grant has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
