Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Better (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Sparrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Better comes into the arena with Hero of War blaring out of the sound system. The key to victory for Eddie Better has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddie Better! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Sparrow! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sparrow has a takedown stuffed. Better feints and then cracks Sparrow's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sparrow down. Sparrow swats away the attempt to clinch by Better. Sparrow keeps the fight on the outside. Sparrow shoots for a takedown but Better saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. No luck for Sparrow with that takedown attempt. Eddie Better has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Sparrow. Sparrow shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Better as he jumps to the side. Better lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Better tries to clinch but Sparrow is having none of it. Eddie Better seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sparrow moves out of range as Better throws a body kick.
Better lands a nice leg kick that just misses Sparrow's sensitive parts. Sparrow stuffs the takedown attempt from Better. Better gets slowly back to his feet. Better gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Sparrow turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Better is looking for a sweep. Sparrow slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Better.
That's one minute gone in the round. Better squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Better trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Better is working to get back to half guard.
Better wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Better preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Sparrow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Better controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Sparrow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sparrow throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Better!
Better rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Better is breathing heavily. Sparrow trying to control from half guard but Better is working away. Better is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Sparrow is stalling here. Better is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Sparrow seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Better has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Sparrow tries to bench press Better off him but Better keeps the position. Sparrow is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Better wants to stand but Sparrow is controlling his arm.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Sparrow's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Sparrow blocks a leg kick. Sparrow misses with a takedown and Better counters with a takedown into side control. Sparrow is trying to get back to his feet. Sparrow tries to improve position but can't. Better stands up and beckons Sparrow to his feet. Horrible takedown by Sparrow or perhaps it was just good defense by Better which made him look bad. Sparrow changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Better looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Better is trying to get back to his feet. Better stops Sparrow from passing to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Better is trying to get back to half guard. Sparrow works to advance to full mount. Better defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Better is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Better knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sparrow on the ground. Better is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sparrow cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Sparrow looking to secure an arm triangle but Better defends it well. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sparrow prevents Better from getting the reversal. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Eddie Better will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Better is looking to clinch but Sparrow is avoiding it.
Better shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sparrow's guard. Sparrow trying to keep a closed guard but Better is proving a slippery customer.
Better trying to control the position from guard on top but Sparrow is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Better chips away with some ground and pound. Sparrow working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Better doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Better manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Sparrow is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Better trying to control but Sparrow is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Better postures up in Sparrow's guard and throws a big left but Sparrow blocks it. Better trying to control but Sparrow is working from the bottom. Sparrow looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Better passes into side control.
You can see the frustration on Sparrow's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Better working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Sparrow regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Better stalling away here and it's allowed Sparrow to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Sparrow is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Better is looking for a sweep. Sparrow is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Sparrow decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Better lands a head kick!
Better throws a quick inside leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sparrow fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Better sprawls well initially but Sparrow persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Better is looking to improve his position.
Sparrow is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Better has managed to free his arm - good work. Better missing with punches from the bottom.
Better is trying to get back to full guard. Better is in trouble now - Sparrow has advanced to mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Better tries to hold on but Sparrow postures up. Better is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Better wants to hold on but Sparrow pushes him away. Sparrow wants to control the pace but Better is squirming around nicely. Better squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Sparrow has hold of Better's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Better manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Sparrow has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Better is forced to tap!
