Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machida comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica- Enter Sandman. Lyoto Machida could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Frank Black's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Black manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Machida scores with a head kick.
Machida lands a right hook to the body.
Machida connects with a single shot there.

It looks like Frank Black has been cut.
Black gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Machida stuffs the takedown.
Machida wants to clinch.
Black swats away the attempt to clinch by Machida.
A left and a right from Black both land. Nice combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Machida is looking to clinch but Black is avoiding it.

Black bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Black wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Machida, who protects the arm well.

Black tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Black has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Machida is looking for a sweep.

Black is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Machida knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Black thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Black trying to control the action but Machida is working from the bottom.

Black is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Machida is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Black goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Machida has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Black but great work by Machida.

Machida is looking to take a break and control but Black is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

You can see the frustration on Black's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Machida wants to control but Black is keeping him busy.

Black is trying to work for a sweep but Machida has mounted him!
Black tries to lock up and control but Machida gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Machida tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Black bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Black wants to pass the guard but Machida is keeping the position.
Machida is trying to control the position but Black postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Frank Black will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Black closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Black lands in his opponent's guard.

Black has an Americana. Machida didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Black is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Black hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
