PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tuomas Uusierkki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesh Masilungan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uusierkki comes to the cage accompanied by Rob Zombie - Never Gonna Stop (The Red Red Kroovy). Masilungan has chosen Heaven Hell as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jesh Masilungan!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masilungan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Uusierkki swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Uusierkki displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Masilungan.
Uusierkki misses with a straight right.
Uusierkki lands a jab.
Uusierkki swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Masilungan.
Uusierkki has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Masilungan.
Masilungan connects with a solid leg kick.
Masilungan avoids a punch combination nicely.

Masilungan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Uusierkki napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Uusierkki gets control of Masilungan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Uusierkki will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Uusierkki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Masilungan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tuomas Uusierkki will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Masilungan dives in and grabs Uusierkki's left leg, looking for a takedown. Uusierkki pushes down on Masilungan's head and hops out.

Horrible takedown by Masilungan or perhaps it was just good defense by Uusierkki which made him look bad.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

I would just about give that final round to Jesh Masilungan.
Well Masilungan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
