Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Simon de Wit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and graham mahon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
de Wit moves in looking to clinch but mahon pushes him off.
mahon has a takedown stuffed.
mahon throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

and mahon counters with a single leg into guard. de Wit didn't expect that.

mahon slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
mahon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. de Wit doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time mahon.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
mahon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
de Wit is breathing heavily.
mahon blocks the strikes from de Wit.
mahon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

mahon thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing de Wit to regain full guard.
mahon working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
mahon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and de Wit counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
de Wit advances to half guard.

mahon has his foot on de Wit's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. de Wit works his way back into a safe position though.

mahon is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
mahon has de Wit pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. de Wit manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

de Wit moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
de Wit is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but mahon is keeping busy.

It looks like graham mahon has been cut.
mahon tries to pull guard but de Wit won't allow it.
de Wit is pressed up against the cage. mahon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag de Wit down to the mat. de Wit avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
de Wit shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That was a close round but I would say that Simon de Wit will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on graham mahon's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
de Wit moves out of range of the body kick from mahon.
de Wit misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
mahon wants to clinch but de Wit slips to the side
and de Wit counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

mahon is looking to sweep but instead, de Wit has passed into half guard.
mahon tries to roll over but de Wit keeps him under control.

mahon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. de Wit manages to get himself to full guard.
de Wit is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst mahon is controlling him.

mahon cracks de Wit with a big right hand but de Wit just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
de Wit is in a horrible position here. mahon smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
