The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lynch is defended easily by Doe. No luck for Lynch with that takedown attempt. Lynch closes the distance and clinches up with Doe, looking for a takedown. Lynch pushes Doe against the cage but Doe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Lynch. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lynch gets the takedown into side control. Lynch tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lynch has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Doe is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Lynch asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lynch is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Doe has escaped the position, nice work there. Lynch goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Doe rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Lynch's guard! Nice work there by Doe! Lynch utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lynch preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Lynch working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Doe. Lynch keeping moving, preventing Doe from controlling successfully. Lynch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Lynch escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Doe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lynch controlling the position. Doe trying to control the position from guard on top but Lynch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Doe wants to pass the guard but Lynch is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Doe works over Lynch with some ground and pound from guard. Doe is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Doe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lynch is keeping the position for now. Lynch is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
