Coming up we have a featherweight kickboxing rules bout between Jean Claude Van Halen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Monroe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monroe comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Danzig - Mother kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jean Claude Van Halen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carlos Monroe! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Hirohito Nitta and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Halen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Van Halen dodges the punch combination from Monroe.
A jab from Van Halen misses. Jab from Monroe. Van Halen throws a hook but Monroe blocks it. Monroe blocks a jab. Monroe moves out of range as Van Halen strikes. Monroe lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Van Halen circles away quickly and effectively. Van Halen misses with an uppercut. Monroe saw that one coming. Monroe closes the distance and lands a one-two. Monroe misses with the combination.
Van Halen throws a jab but it's blocked by Monroe. Carlos Monroe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Monroe walks into a left hand. Van Halen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Monroe checks a leg kick nicely. Monroe tries a head kick but it misses.
Monroe works over Van Halen's head and body with a nice combination. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Monroe scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Monroe lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Van Halen circles away quickly and effectively. Van Halen attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Monroe misses with a head kick.
Monroe looks to land a combination but Van Halen avoids it well. Van Halen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Monroe.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monroe staying out of range there. Van Halen listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Van Halen is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Monroe. Monroe misses with a head kick.
Monroe takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Van Halen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Monroe.
Van Halen misses with an uppercut. Van Halen connects with a beautiful left hand that drops Monroe onto his butt! Monroe bounces straight back up though - he's OK. After the ref checks him out, we're back to the action.
Monroe is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Monroe misses with a series of wild punches.
Monroe is still on wobbly legs! Can Van Halen finish him? Monroe lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Van Halen circles away quickly and effectively. Monroe walks straight into a perfectly timed right hook, crumpling him to the floor! Monroe is in all kinds of trouble here - can he beat the count? 3,4,5,6,7,8,9....10 - he's out and it's by a long way too - he didn't ever look like beating that count!
