Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Al Shaffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jari Juntta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaffer comes to the cage accompanied by Midnight At The Oasis by Maria Muldaur. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Juntta throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Shaffer fails with an attempt to clinch.

Shaffer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Shaffer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Juntta can do anything to dispel that myth.
The strikes coming from Shaffer are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Shaffer tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Shaffer throws a strike but Juntta rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Juntta postures up in Shaffer's guard and throws a big left but Shaffer blocks it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Juntta slips a nice elbow through Shaffer's hands, connecting with Shaffer's forehead.
Juntta uses his free foot to push down on Shaffer's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Shaffer.
Shaffer wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Juntta.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Juntta goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Shaffer is on top in guard.

Juntta throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shaffer was covering up waiting for the punch and Juntta finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Juntta is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Shaffer reverses the position - he's now on top in Juntta's guard.

Juntta cracks Shaffer with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Shaffer is looking to improve his position but Juntta isn't that keen on the idea.

Jeez, Al Shaffer's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Al Shaffer's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
