Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlo Boozer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Donald James! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boozer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches James napping and manages to drive through into side control! We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. James is not content to let Boozer control the position. James gets back to half guard. James tries to get to full guard but Boozer has control of the leg. Boozer is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Boozer is looking to advance position but James won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boozer is trying to control the action in half guard but James is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. James actively working from the bottom here. Boozer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. James wants to get back to full guard but Boozer has passed into side control.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Boozer wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

A telegraphed right hand from Boozer misses the target.
