Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sin Cara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Reyes has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Sin Cara's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sin Cara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Reyes!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cara gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Cara not doing much here.

Reyes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cara pulls his head out easily.
Reyes flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Reyes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Reyes is trying to maintain the position but Cara is very close to passing his half guard.
Cara takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Reyes regains full guard. Nicely done.
Cara has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Cara stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Reyes tries to clinch up but Cara circles away and keeps his distance.
Reyes dives in and grabs Cara's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cara pushes down on Reyes's head and hops out.

Cara clinches up with Reyes and pushes him back against the cage.
Reyes is trying to break the clinch but Cara has him pressed against the cage.

Cara gets control of Reyes's arms and successfully pulls guard. Cara will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Reyes prevents Cara from getting back to his feet.
Cara pulls Reyes in close to prevent any damage.
Reyes won't allow Cara to sweep him here.
Cara has Reyes pulled in close to control his posture.
Cara thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Cara wants to stand but Reyes is controlling the position.
Cara keeping moving, preventing Reyes from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Reyes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cara sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Reyes somewhat.
Good work by Reyes as he checks the leg kick.
Cara misses with a lunging right hand
and Reyes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Johnny Reyes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cara has closed the distance and engaged Reyes in a clinch.

Cara manages to pull guard.

Cara is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Reyes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cara avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Sin Cara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Reyes.

Cara manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Reyes wants to control from the top but Cara keeps moving.
Cara pulls Reyes in close to his closed guard and prevents Reyes from doing any damage or advancing position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Cara closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Reyes to the mat! Reyes manages to get full guard.

Reyes wants to improve his position but instead Cara has moved into half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cara lands a nice short elbow.
Cara tries to stand and escape but Reyes is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sin Cara dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Cara fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Reyes, pushing him back against the cage.

Cara decides to pull guard.
Cara has a closed guard, preventing Reyes from standing up.

Reyes is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cara is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cara has escaped and now he's on top!
Reyes wants to hit a switch here but Cara passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Reyes there!
Cara takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Reyes is breathing heavily.

Cara landing strikes, looking to finish!
Reyes tries to lock up and control but Cara gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Reyes is trying to reverse the position but instead Cara has taken his back - oops!

Cara looking to break Reyes's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Reyes remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Cara will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Reyes is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cara gets his way!

Cara is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

I would not like to be Reyes right now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cara just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Reyes gets tackled into the cage by Cara. Cara maintains the clinch.

Reyes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Reyes takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Cara has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Reyes finds it's way round the side to connect with Cara's head.

Cara shoots in and bounces Reyes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
