PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Drago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Limp Bizkit-My way or the high way. John Ross has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Drago!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Ross!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drago throws a head kick but Ross moves out of range.

Ross clinches up with Drago and pushes him back against the cage.
Drago tries to score a body lock takedown but Ross shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Drago tries to break free but Ross pushes him back against the cage.
Drago dodges an elbow strike from Ross.
Drago has Ross pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ross manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
A head punch on the inside from Ross fails to land.

Ross breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Drago dives in and grabs Ross's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ross pushes down on Drago's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Drago. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Drago jumps guard but Ross turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Drago blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Drago's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Ross presses Drago against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Drago has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ross is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Ross comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Danny Drago has been cut.

Ross gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Drago regains guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ross distracts Drago with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Drago has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ross can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ross really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Drago. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ross drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ross jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ross throws a sloppy head kick and Drago moves out of range easily.

and Drago counters with a three punch combo that has Ross backing up. Ross nods at Drago to acknowledge the strikes.

John Ross is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Ross has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
