Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nelly Haynes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anthony Pettis! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haynes tries to clinch but Pettis moves out of range. Haynes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pettis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Haynes pivots, looking for a leg kick but Pettis is out of range and Haynes settles back down. Haynes wants to clinch up but Pettis keeps it at a distance. Haynes tries to clinch but Pettis moves out of range. Haynes is looking to clinch. Haynes is looking to clinch. Haynes takes the fight into the clinch. Pettis on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Haynes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pettis looks for a takedown but Haynes sprawls well. Haynes tries to clinch but Pettis moves out of range. Haynes moves to clinch but Pettis breaks away and Pettis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Haynes's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Pettis drops back looking for a leg! Haynes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Haynes manages to kick Pettis off! Pettis jumps back into Haynes's guard. Pettis stopping the sweep attempt from Haynes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haynes can't keep his opponent in guard - Pettis advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Haynes tries to roll over but Pettis keeps him under control. Haynes is working hard here to advance position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pettis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Haynes defends it well. Haynes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Pettis is trying for a kimura here. Haynes looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Pettis wins by kimura!
