Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pete Mercury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emunn Samvesu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pete Mercury! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Emunn Samvesu! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Samvesu tries for a takedown but Mercury sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Samvesu shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mercury defends it nicely. Mercury stuffs the takedown. Pete Mercury has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emunn Samvesu. Good shot there by Mercury. A punch lands to the side of Samvesu 's head but he takes it in his stride. Mercury looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mercury connects with a body shot. Pete Mercury seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Samvesu walks into a left hand. Mercury fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Samvesu to the ground. Mercury is now in Samvesu's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mercury is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Mercury throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Samvesu works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Mercury trying to control the position from guard on top but Samvesu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Samvesu manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's one minute gone in the round. Samvesu tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. Mercury might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Samvesu swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mercury is now in Samvesu's guard. A big mistake from Samvesu there, giving up the dominant position! Mercury in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Mercury working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Samvesu's head. Mercury thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Samvesu is looking for a triangle but Mercury pushes his legs off easily.
Mercury stands up over Samvesu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Mercury lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Samvesu is trying to control the position but Mercury postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mercury is looking to work some ground and pound but Samvesu has wrist control. Samvesu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Mercury decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Mercury misses with a straight right. Samvesu is looking to clinch. Samvesu staying out of range there. Samvesu gets caught napping as Mercury dives in and scores a takedown. Samvesu manages to retain guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Samvesu throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Mercury chips away with some ground and pound. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Mercury would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Samvesu looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercury looking to sit in guard and control but Samvesu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Samvesu trying to control the position from guard on top but Mercury is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mercury lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Samvesu! Mercury is landing with some decent strikes but Samvesu is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Mercury in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Mercury lands a nice shot to the head. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Samvesu can do anything to dispel that myth. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mercury working the ground and pound effectively.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Samvesu is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mercury lands a big elbow. Mercury has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mercury breaks from Samvesu's wrist control and lands an elbow. Samvesu really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Samvesu is rocked! Mercury raining down shots from the mount! Samvesu is still in real trouble! Can Mercury finish him? Mercury cracks Samvesu with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pete Mercury! Jumping up and down and very excited, Pete Mercury waved his t-shirt featuring Fight Night Nutrition's logo in front of the cameras.
