PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rolle Johnsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Nolter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnsen comes to the cage accompanied by Black Sabbath - Snowblind. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Rolle Johnsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick Nolter!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nolter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnsen is fending him off so far but Nolter persists. Nope, Johnsen circles away and we're back to standing.
Nolter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnsen pinned against the cage. Johnsen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Nolter looking to score a takedown here. Johnsen is defending well but Nolter drives through and ends up in Johnsen's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Nolter trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnsen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nolter throws a big elbow that misses.
Nolter pushes down on Johnsen's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Johnsen tries to kick Nolter off but Nolter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Nolter works his way into side control.
Nolter in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Johnsen takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Nolter remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Nolter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Nolter is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Johnsen looks calm but he's in trouble here. Nolter gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Johnsen is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Nolter lets go of the hold and Johnsen can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nick Nolter!
