Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tam Conway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Hillman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hillman shoots in but Conway avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hillman throws a sloppy body shot
and Conway counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Hillman fails with the takedown and Conway counters with a series of strikes. Hillman will be more careful next time no doubt. Conway lands with a right hand. Conway throws a good cross that connects.
Conway scores with a nice strike. Hillman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Conway as he avoids it easily. Tam Conway has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Hillman. Conway keeps the fight on the outside. Conway slaps away a takedown attempt from Hillman, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jim Hillman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Conway throws a combination. Hillman tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Conway lands a really nice looking cross but Hillman seems unphased.
Conway uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hillman.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hillman throws a right hand that Conway ducks under and follows up with a left that Conway also avoids with ease. Hillman misses with a double jab
and Conway counters with a lovely straight right hand! Conway will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hillman takes one to the side of the head.

Hillman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Conway paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Conway steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hillman. Conway is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Hillman throws a combination. Conway tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Hillman looks to land a right hand but Conway moved out of range. A swing and a miss from Hillman. Conway tests Hillman's chin there with a solid looking shot. Conway dodges the punch combination from Hillman.
Hillman doesn't succeed with the takedown and Conway counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hillman's guard now. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Conway distracts Hillman with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Conway knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hillman on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Conway postures up in Hillman's guard and throws a big left but Hillman blocks it. Conway trying to control but Hillman is working from the bottom. Conway lands a couple of digs. Hillman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Hillman is trying to keep Conway in close.
Conway trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Conway landing some decent shots from guard. Conway postures up and lands a big shot to Hillman's brow. Hillman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Conway is one step ahead there. Conway has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Conway wanted to stand there but Hillman had control of the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hillman is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Conway has his hands clasped together but Hillman extends an breaks Conway's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hillman.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jim Hillman! Jim Hillman was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
