The bell rings for round one and we are underway! White shoots in but Karimi avoids the takedown attempt easily. A momentary lapse in concentration from White enables Karimi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. White manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. White wants to stand up but Karimi is controlling him. Karimi stands and throws White's legs to the side, diving into side control. Karimi is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. White looks calm but he's in trouble here. Karimi gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. White is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Karimi lets go of the hold and White can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Reza Karimi!
