Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dave Houses (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Soya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Dave Houses has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dave Houses!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Don Soya!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soya fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Houses avoids it really well and circles away.

Soya tries to keep at a distance but Houses has taken the fight into the clinch.
Soya jumps guard but Houses turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Houses wants the takedown. Soya is fighting it off but Houses persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Soya's guard against the cage.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Soya has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Houses can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Soya looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Houses trying to control but Soya is working from the bottom.
Soya is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Soya working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Houses doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Houses manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dave Houses has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Soya fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dave Houses has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Soya.
The fight stays on the outside here - Houses looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Houses will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Soya is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Houses defends well.

Houses wants to control his opponent's hands but Soya gets his hands free.

Houses got a little sloppy there for a moment and Soya has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Houses has managed to get both his arms back between Soya's legs - danger averted.
Houses stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soya swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Soya wants to sweep but no luck.

Houses trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Soya looking to hit a scissor sweep but Houses is one step ahead there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Houses really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Don Soya will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Soya drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Houses dives on top into guard.

Houses is pushing down on Soya's leg trying to pass to half guard. Soya is fighting to maintain full guard but Houses has managed to sneak the leg through.

Houses breaks from Soya's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Houses with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Houses postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Soya looks a forlorn figure.

Houses gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Soya drops back, looking for a kneebar! Houses looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Houses looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Houses!

Well Houses has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
