Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kurt Wagner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dy Alvez!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wagner blocks a head kick by Alvez.
Alvez leaves Wagner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Wagner looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Alvez!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Wagner misses with the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wagner tries to score with some ground and pound. Alvez controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Alvez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wagner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alvez is trying to improve his position.
Alvez can't do much from the bottom here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alvez can do anything to dispel that myth.

Wagner tries to score with some ground and pound. Alvez controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Alvez pushes Wagner away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wagner gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Wagner tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Alvez manages to work his way to half guard, despite Wagner's best efforts.
Wagner lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Wagner slips a nice elbow through Alvez's hands, connecting with Alvez's forehead.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wagner lands a nice short elbow.
Wagner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wagner is nestled in close to Alvez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Alvez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wagner is working away from the top position though.

Wagner prevents Alvez from getting back to his feet.
Wagner lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.


Alvez is rocked!
Wagner loads up on a big left hand. Alvez felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Wagner looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Alvez can't hide his disappointment, as Wagner celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kurt Wagner!
A very excited looking Kurt Wagner made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
