The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Alves wants to clinch up but Thesz keeps it at a distance.
Alves lands with an uppercut that bounces Thesz off the cage and back into range.
Alves lands a two punch combo.
Thesz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alves sprawls well initially but Thesz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alves is looking to escape.
Thesz seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Alves is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
