PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ryan McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Rizal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCarthy comes to the cage accompanied by Crank That-Soulja Boy. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan McCarthy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Rizal!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rizal is able to avoid easily.
Rizal displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McCarthy throws out the jab.
McCarthy throws a series of punches but Rizal moves out of range.
Rizal on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by McCarthy. McCarthy obviously looking to wear him down.
McCarthy leaves Rizal with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

McCarthy feints and then cracks Rizal's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rizal down.
Rizal shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McCarthy sprawls well. McCarthy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rizal gets slowly back to his feet.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Rizal has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Rizal and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
