PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paulione Scneider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Porter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paulione Scneider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matthew Porter!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Porter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Scneider!
Porter looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Scneider is avoiding damage well.
Porter just content to control the position.
Scneider tries to improve position but can't.
Scneider struggling a bit here.
Porter throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Porter trying to control the position but Scneider is working away.
Scneider is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Porter asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Porter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Scneider. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
You can see the frustration on Scneider's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Porter fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Scneider to the ground. Porter is now in Scneider's guard.

Scneider has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Porter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Porter wants to pass the guard but Scneider is keeping the position.
Porter is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Scneider has Porter pulled in close to control his posture.

Paulione Scneider has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Porter closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Scneider's guard.

Scneider keeping moving, preventing Porter from controlling successfully.

Scneider has his foot on Porter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Porter works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Matthew Porter hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Scneider tries to clinch but Porter moves away
and Porter counters with a one-two to the body.

Porter closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Porter lands in his opponent's guard.

Scneider working a defensive guard but Porter manages to pass into side control anyway.
Scneider is looking to regain half guard here but Porter keeps moving and retains side control.
Porter is chipping away with strikes.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Porter looking to control but instead Scneider has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Porter counters with a shoot takedown. Scneider fights it but they end up in guard.

Porter throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Scneider because Porter loaded up on that one.

Scneider can't escape the position.
Scneider tries to lock up and control but Porter gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Matthew Porter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Porter shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Porter manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Scneider on his heels. He'll look to pass Scneider's guard now, I'm sure.
Porter is looking to work some ground and pound but Scneider has wrist control.

Scneider working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Porter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Porter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Porter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scneider swivels though and keeps the full guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Scneider enables Porter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Scneider manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Matthew Porter is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Scneider not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Porter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Scneider throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Matthew Porter was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Porter shoots in and bounces Scneider off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Matthew Porter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Porter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
