Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yiotis Egomitis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chase Ries! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ries tries for a takedown but Egomitis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Egomitis connects with a body shot. Egomitis moves in looking to clinch but Ries pushes him off. Ries throws a jab but it's blocked by Egomitis. Egomitis doesn't manage to clinch there - Ries circles away.
Ries feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ries is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Ries stops Egomitis from standing up. Ries wants to pass the guard but Egomitis is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ries with a flurry of punches that miss. Egomitis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Ries chips away with some ground and pound. Ries showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ries feints and then dives in with a takedown. Ries with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Egomitis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ries controls the pace. Ries passes into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ries wants to pass the guard but Egomitis is defending well. Ries thows a huge punch but Egomitis dodges it nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ries is trying for a kimura here. Egomitis looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Ries wins by kimura!
