Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ola John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gerald Walsh!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walsh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with John but John pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Walsh misses with a takedown attempt - John sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gerald Walsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
John scores with a nice right hand.
Walsh wants to clinch but John slips to the side
and John counters with a left and a right that stings Walsh.
Walsh shoots in for a takedown but John shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ola John has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerald Walsh.
John lands a leg kick that knocks Walsh off balance momentarily.
Walsh tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and John counters with a stiff right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Walsh throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and John finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
John lands a body shot.
John defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Walsh.
Walsh looks winded!

That's one minute gone in the round.
John fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Nice body kick there by John.
Walsh takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from John, right into the meat.

John scores with a takedown into Walsh's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
John sitting in guard, not really doing much.
John stands and throws Walsh's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Walsh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with John. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
John works to advance to full mount. Walsh defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
John lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Walsh hang on?

That's two minutes gone in the round.

John content just to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

John has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Walsh is forced to tap!
