PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jame Call (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ignas Morkius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Call might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Rainin Men. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jame Call!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ignas Morkius!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morkius throws a hook but Call avoids it easily.
Morkius throws a combination that misses
and Call counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Morkius thinking.
Morkius takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Morkius throws a nice looking combination but Call bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Morkius scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Morkius creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Call sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Call taking punishment in the form of punches.
Morkius is trying to ground and pound but Call uses the momentary lack of control by Morkius to regain half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Morkius is thwarting Call's attempts to control the position.
Morkius throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Morkius really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Call. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Morkius throws a strike but Call avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Morkius keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Call's head.
Call is looking to stand up but Morkius isn't so interested in that idea.

Call has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Morkius can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Morkius postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Call is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Call is trying to drag Morkius to the mat but Morkius just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Call gets underhooks to prevent Morkius's takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Call breaks the clinch.
Morkius swinging wildly here.
Call scores with a sloppy right hand. Morkius should have avoided that one.
Call takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Call looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Morkius is fending him off so far but Call persists. Nope, Morkius circles away and we're back to standing.
Morkius looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Morkius throws a combination that misses

Call throws a sloppy head kick and Morkius moves out of range easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Call looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Call changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Morkius tries to avoid it but Call manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Morkius to the ground. Morkius escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jame Call. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Call gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Morkius struggles to land a body shot inside as Call controls his hands.
Call misses with the head strike.

Call lands a shoulder strike.
Call tries to pull guard but Morkius won't allow it.

Call breaks from the clinch.
Morkius keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Call throws a low kick but Morkius moves out of range easily.
Some wild striking there from Morkius.
Call shoots in for a takedown but Morkius shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Call is breathing heavily.
A combination from Morkius does no damage.
Call lands a nice looking body shot.
Call shoots for a takedown but Morkius saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Morkius fails in his attempt to clinch.

Morkius rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Call moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Call takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Call wants to clinch.
Call pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Morkius swinging wildly here.

Morkius shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Morkius throws a strike but Call rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Morkius wants to stand but Call is controlling the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Call trying to control but Morkius is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ignas Morkius will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Morkius swinging wildly here.
Morkius pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Call back to the cage. Morkius follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Jame Call has been cut.
Call has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Call takes one to the chin there.
Call ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Morkius moves away.
Morkius misses with a double jab.
Morkius's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Call connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Morkius scrambles back to his feet.


It looks like Ignas Morkius has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Morkius changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Call tries to avoid it but Morkius manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Call to the ground. Call escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Call connects with a good right hand that stumbles Morkius. Morkius circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Call is looking to wear down Morkius with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Sloppy strikes from Morkius. Those never looked like landing.

Call moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Morkius is breathing heavily.
Call ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Call tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Morkius swivels and escapes.

Call shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Call's jab looks to have found its range, popping Morkius under the eye.
Call misses with a takedown attempt - Morkius sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Morkius looks to land a combination but Call avoids it well.
Call buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Morkius shoots for a takedown but Call saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Call stuns Morkius with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Jame Call is winning the standup battle so far.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Morkius checks a leg kick.

Morkius misses with some punches.
Call looking for a takedown.

Call throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Call is pushing Morkius up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Morkius changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Call fights it off and pushes away nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fight stays on the outside here - Morkius looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Call looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Morkius is fending him off so far but Call persists. Nope, Morkius circles away and we're back to standing.
Ignas Morkius is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Morkius shoots in and gets a takedown into Call's guard.
Call utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Morkius throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Call can't keep his opponent in guard - Morkius advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Morkius scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Morkius throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Call regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Morkius.
Morkius throws an elbow that misses. Call uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Morkius's guard. Nice move by Call!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Morkius can do anything to dispel that myth.
Morkius wants to get back to his feet but Call is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Morkius is wriggling around but Call manages to pass to half guard.
Call looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Morkius with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Call not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Morkius is trying to stand up here but Call is controlling him well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jame Call will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Call. No joy for Morkius on that attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Morkius is defended easily by Call.
Morkius fails with a takedown attempt.
Jame Call has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ignas Morkius.
Morkius on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Call shoots in for a takedown but Morkius shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Morkius misses with a body kick.
Nice shot lands for Call.

Call drives through and clinches with Morkius against the cage.
Morkius swings wildly with an uppercut but Call uses good head movement to avoid it.

Call pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Morkius closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Morkius takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Call regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Morkius.
Morkius throws an elbow that misses. Call uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Morkius's guard. Nice move by Call!
Call working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Morkius's head.
Morkius keeping moving, preventing Call from controlling successfully.
Call scoring with punches to the head and body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Call with a nice head shot there.
Morkius wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Call manages to pass to side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Call wants to lay and pray for a moment but Morkius keeps working.
Call not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Call missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Call uses his free foot to push down on Morkius's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Morkius.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Call scoring with strikes but Morkius is staying in there.
Morkius is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Call working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Morkius wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Call lands a big elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Call pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Call can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Morkius is looking to escape.
Call controlling the position easily from mount.
Call trying to control but Morkius is having none of it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Call working the ground and pound effectively.

Jame Call showed his dominance in that final round.
