Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugues De Payens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Shogun!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shogun tries to clinch there but De Payens circles away.
A low kick from Shogun is predictable there
and De Payens makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Shogun dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on De Payens. That did some damage!
Shogun moves forwards but De Payens connects with a nice, crisp jab.

De Payens digs a right hand into Shogun's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Shogun's gas tank.
Still in the clinch, De Payens scores with a nice short uppercut.
De Payens escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
De Payens cracks Shogun with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. De Payens has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Shogun to stand back up!
Shogun is rocked!
It looks like Mauricio Shogun has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shogun glances at the clock... BAM! De Payens nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Shogun crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Shogun is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Hugues De Payens!
