Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Artie DeVanzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimroy Hoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kimroy Hoo!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoo attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Artie DeVanzo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

DeVanzo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hoo is trying to control but can't.
DeVanzo performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Hoo wants to control but DeVanzo is keeping busy.

DeVanzo uses his free foot to push down on Hoo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hoo.

DeVanzo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
DeVanzo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Artie DeVanzo.
Hoo moves in looking to clinch but DeVanzo pushes him off.
DeVanzo misses with a few strikes there.

DeVanzo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
DeVanzo controls from within his opponent's guard.
Hoo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Hoo is trying to control the position but DeVanzo postures up.

DeVanzo advances to half guard.
DeVanzo is taking a breather. Hoo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
DeVanzo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
DeVanzo perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hoo trying to control but DeVanzo postures up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
DeVanzo misses with a combination
and Hoo counters with a nice low kick that buckles DeVanzo's knee momentarily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hoo tries to close the distance and clinch but DeVanzo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hoo throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck DeVanzo on the side of the head.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hoo enables DeVanzo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hoo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
DeVanzo passes easily into side control. Nice work.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

DeVanzo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

DeVanzo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Hoo fakes a jab and throws a low kick but DeVanzo checks it well.

DeVanzo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hoo gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Still in the clinch, DeVanzo scores with a nice short uppercut.

DeVanzo works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
A short body shot lands from DeVanzo as the two fighters clinch.
Hoo pushes off an throws an elbow but DeVanzo leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Hoo just misses with a elbow thrown towards DeVanzo's brow.
DeVanzo lands a body shot in the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by DeVanzo.
DeVanzo throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
DeVanzo throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Hoos head.
DeVanzo digs a right hand underneath Hoo's ribcage. Hoo let out a lung full of air as it connected.

DeVanzo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

DeVanzo wants to pass the guard but Hoo is defending well.

We're going to have a standup here because Artie DeVanzo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
DeVanzo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hoo was well out of range. Poor timing from DeVanzo.

DeVanzo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hoo can't fight it off and eventually DeVanzo manages to take the fight to the floor. Hoo looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
DeVanzo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Artie DeVanzo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for DeVanzo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
